Okay, so if you are like one of the two people that still read my blog, have you ever seen Before Sunrise and/or Before Sunset?

I pretty much think Before Sunset is the most romantic film I have ever seen, but if there were a time machine that could take me back to 1996, then I would say Before Sunrise is the most romantic film.

Before Sunrise is basically like a more naive, cheesy version of Before Sunset, hence the timeline.

Also, if I were a character in a movie, I think I would be, simultaneuously, Ethan Hawke in Sunrise, and Julie Delpy in Sunset.

The point is that they are both pretty romantic and if you are a woman and it just so happens to be that time of the month, you should watch them back to back if you want to loose all your bloatiness in tears.

  1. Yes, I do still religiously read your blog and yes I have seen both the movies.

Dont hate me - but I do not like either of them. They are full of cliches and just dont interest me.
However, I am not a hopeless romantic so what do I know. J loves both these movies....

both are stone masterpieces that capture PERFECTLY, from both male and female perspectives, the uniqueness of an adolescence spent with the mid-to-late 90's at early 00's...

Personally, I prefer "Sunset"...maybe it's bacause I, like those characters, am older now, past such youthful naivete as "the perfect date for no mney", and I've had my fun abroad...

did the preview screening for "sunset" in toronto, funny enough, I was bawling...Allon had to angle himself so my bosses didn't see ol' betsy getting too into the movie...it was utterly, devastatingly wonderful to see those two again and catch up.

BTW - Julie Delpy's new movie "2 Days In Paris" is an unofficial sequel to the series, or at least her own attempt to Linklater.

and as for the Linklater...his legacy is secure.

"Slacker" is one of the best low budget indie films ever made, "Dazed & Confused" is simply perfect (I could watch it 300 times in a row...think I have, actually...) and I have a hard-on for "Suburbia", though I don't much like "Waking Life" or the new one with Keanu...

BTW - so sorry to hear about Jakie:(
